About the event
Artist Bio: Stacey MacLeod is a Detroit artist who is inspired by the dichotomy between temporary physical form and eternal spirit. She uses multi-media to make material of transcendent life-force, more specifically--the spiritual power to relieve human suffering, through nature, angels and telesmatic, female figures. Her works are graphic and morphed ink images, often abstractly over-laid with watercolor, spray paint, or acrylic color-block.
Artist Bio: Detroit-based artist Sarah Cavalieri explores subconscious goo with new works on paper. Fantastical narratives creep from semi-random ink blots, like asymmetrical Rorschach tests, and become solidified and smoothed in graphite renderings. Fully leaning into pareidolia (a psychological phenomenon in which human brains recognize familiar patterns or shapes in random or vague stimuli), the works dive into themes of desire, death, and escapism from a deeply and darkly feminine perspective.
