10th Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival – 2018

Join the Michigan Brewers Guild at Eastern Market in October for one of the largest all-Michigan beer tastings around. Attendees can enjoy some incredible food from Detroit area restaurants (available for purchase) and listen to a talented line-up of local musicians while sipping any of more than 800+ craft beers and nearly 120 Michigan breweries.

The Motor City has a long-standing brewing history and in recent years it has been revitalized thanks to a growing interest in the craft beer movement. Established in 1891, the current Eastern Market is one of the nation’s oldest farm markets and the area is rife with brewing history. In its heyday, there were more than 40 breweries in the Detroit area and malt silos still stand as a testament to the rich brewing history – making it the perfect backdrop for the Detroit Fall Beer Festival. People For Palmer Park Harvest Fest

In honor of the harvest and in celebration of the Palmer legacy, the park will be filled with autumn festivities and free family fun.

Farmer John and his Barnyard Express show and petting zoo will return. Some of the season’s bounty will be shared: apple tasting (with five different varieties of heirloom apples); apple cider and donut holes for the first 500; corn grilling and pumpkin picking. Arts and crafts activities and pumpkin decorating will be held in PFPP’s big blue art tent, and a special squash display will demonstrate the wide variety of pumpkins and squash that grow in Michigan and how they look inside and out. Then try your luck at tug-of-war, sack races and other old-fashioned games.

This will be a fun-filled opportunity for all ages to discover how our food is grown, the lives of farm animals, and nature in the park.

Sponsors: Presented by People for Palmer Park with the support of the City of Detroit. Special thanks to Home Depot for a grant and volunteers that made it possible to build the PFPP Educational Garden.

Where

The event takes place next to Palmer Park’s Splash Park and new playground, on Merrill Plaisance near Pontchartrain, between McNichols and Seven Mile Roads, west of Woodward Avenue. Parking is available at the Splash Park parking lot.

Guitarists and Landscapes: Paintings on Aluminum - Alonso Del Arte

In this new body of work, Alonso del Arte explores the use of aluminum as an unlikely canvas for paintings of mythical beings playing square guitars as well as fruits and various landscapes, sometimes letting the metal shine through, other times completely covering it, it’s a very nice metal to work with either way.
